POOR
SNOWDROP!!
This 4 year old German Shorthaired Pointer was left
outside on our sidewalk one freezing, rainy night.
Luckily one of our staff went outside to their car
and saw these eyes staring out of a carrier just
before everyone was going home for the night.
We pulled her inside to safety, she was soaking wet
and shaking partially because of fear and also
because she was cold.
It was clear once we examined her that something was
very wrong with her left eye and she had a mammary
tumor. She has been into the eye specialist
and has been diagnosed with congenital glaucoma in
both eyes. The pressure was so extreme in her
left eye that if it were to go untreated the eye had
the potential to pop out of the socket. We got
the eye drops that Snowdrop needs. Now we need
help paying her medical bills, which total $700 so
far. Please consider sponsoring, fostering or
adopting Snowdrop! She is extremely sweet with
other dogs & children!

BESSIE!

Bessie is a 1.5 year old female
Puggle who has been diagnosed with microvascular
dysplasia-she was born with too small of a liver.
This causes Bessie to have seizures so she is now on
Phenobarbital and has not had any seizures since the
start of the medication. She will need follow
up blood tests to make sure she is on the
appropriate medications. She wiggles like
crazy at the site of any person, so playful & sweet.
Please consider fostering, sponsoring while in our
care or adopting Bessie!

This innocent little kitten was rescued by a
good samaritan and brought to AHS last
week still smelling of smoke. He had been
kicked repeatedly into a bonfire by a group of
teenagers! AHS is treating his burned eye,
severely blistered pads and mouth. He is
fighting hard and responding to the gentle hands
that are caring for him. His name is "Josh" --
after his rescuer. Please help with his medical
expenses by sending a check or visiting our
Donate Now page and making a donation in his
name.

BUDDY- This
poor 10 year old boy was dropped off at an animal
control facility in southern Illinois and set to be euthanized. We stepped
in and rescued him. When he arrived at our
shelter we realized his jaw was broken, he was
severely dehydrated and had not eaten in a week.
He still wagged his tail, gave us kisses and wanted
to be held. Our local veterinarian said Buddy
needed to get to an oral surgeon immediately.
The jaw has been broken for quite a while now, he is
in excruciating pain, needs all of his teeth pulled
and the jaw fixed. Even with Buddy being an
older boy with a lot of problems with his mouth, he
deserves better treatment in life than what he has
gotten. We could not give up on him like other
people in his life have. It is going to cost
$2,000 to get Buddy's mouth & jaw fixed and we
desperately need your help! If we can all pull
together for Buddy since so many other people have
let him down, we can finally help Buddy feel loved
for once in his life. You can click on any
'Donate Now' button throughout the site to donate by
credit card or you can mail a check to the shelter
address and specify that Buddy is who the donation
is for.
