A Note from Amy’s Foster: “Amy has made some big strides since she has been with us! Although we still need to coax her into doing things like coming to eat or to go outside, we don’t have to carry her to do these things anymore. She definitely looks to my other dog for what she should and can be doing.

Amy is still exploring different areas of the house. She has her favorite spots in the house and those are where she tends to go to. At first it was her cage, then she found comfort in our shower. After the shower was the stairs, and now her new favorite spot is squeezing in between our shower and toilet. Curiosity got the best of her and she ventured upstairs when we slept and she would sleep in our bathroom.

It took some time for her to learn to trust us. Because I am the main person with her she seems to be very trusting of me but still a little skittish around my husband and kids. However, she is great with my kids. My 1 year old lays all over Amy and Amy doesn’t seem to mind. I have kids ranging from almost 6 years to 1 year and she is great with all 4 of them.

Amy loves to play outside, especially after the sun goes down. She is the fastest running dog I have ever been around. She will run in circles, chase her tail, roll around in the grass, hop like a rabbit and bow down to get you to chase her. She still has not barked once but she does a playful whine when she wants to play. I have not found a favorite toy for her yet but I did finally find her favorite treat. She loves beggin strips! Amy is such a good dog on a leash. She doesn’t pull, is very well behaved, and I am able to do loose leash walking with her.”

All dogs are microchipped, neutered/spayed, current on all vaccines, heartworm tested and started on Tri Heart Plus & Vectra 3D.

Please fill out an online application and we will give you a call as soon as we receive it. Visit our ‘Adopt’ page to view adoption process steps, policies, requirements and FAQ. View our ‘Visit’ page for hours and directions to our shelter. We look forward to seeing you soon!

Our website is always kept 100% up to date with who is currently available. All new animals (40/week) are added to the site 2 weeks before their availability date to give you time to fill out your adoption application and get the family ready to come out to the shelter that day. As soon as animals are adopted, they are moved to the Adopted Pets page so if they are still listed on the Adoptable Dogs or Cats page, they are still available. Keep any eye on our website for any animals being added as available for adoption as new animals are added everyday! We would recommend if you haven’t done so already that you submit a general online adoption application with us so it is on file for when you are ready to come out and adopt. The adoption counselors will be able to show you many that would be a good fit for your family. We do go in order of when you submitted your application with us. So it is always best that you get your general application for any animal in with us as soon as possible.
