I AM A HURRICANE HARVEY SURVIVOR!

Note from Twain’s foster mom:

Twain is a very good boy who absolutely loves to be loved, he is always down for a cuddle or a good belly rub. He really loves his foster brother Briggs I think he would do great in a house with another dog they are constantly cuddling and playing. I would guess that Twain probably spent most of his time as an outside dog, he is basically a puppy because everything seems new to him. He is good about letting you know when he has to go out to go potty by scratching at the door. Twain is getting better everyday at sit and down eventually we will add stay. In the beginning he was very apprehensive about car rides but now he is ready to jump on in when you open the car door. He is still learning how to be on the leash, he walks good on it but when you try to take him a different direction from the one he was going in he has a tendency to lie down & roll on his back. He does well in the crate he needs some coaxing/help getting into the cage but once in it he does great. He cries for a little when you leave the house while he is in the cage but after about 5-10 minutes he lays down & goes to sleep. He loves toys and bones & he likes to destroy the toys with stuffing and take it all out (he does not eat it though). We are gaining trust when it comes to cutting his nails he lets me hold and play with his paws but once the clippers come out he pulls away.   Twain is a very sweet good boy and we are happy to have him!

Adoption donation: $300

All dogs are microchipped, neutered, current on all vaccines, heartworm tested and started on Tri Heart Plus & Vectra 3D.

The website www.animalhouseshelter.com is always kept 100% up to date with who is currently available and all new animals (40/week) are added to the site 2 weeks before their availability date to give you time to fill out your adoption application and get the family ready to come out to the shelter that day. As soon as they are adopted, they are moved to the Adopted Pets page so if they are still listed on the Adoptable Dogs page, they are still available.  So keep any eye on the site for any animals being added as available for adoption as new animals are added everyday!
I would recommend if you haven’t done so already that you submit a general online adoption application with us so it is on file for when you are ready to come out and adopt.  The adoption counselors will be able to show you many that would be a good fit for your family.  We do go in order of when you submitted your approved application with us.  So it is always best that you get your general application for any dog in with us as soon as possible.  The application is a general one to adopt anyone from us and stays on file with us for 6 months until you find the perfect fit for your family!
