Notes from Xena’s foster home:
She is a super cuddly dog and loves to curl up on my lap for naps and to give kisses. She enjoys sleeping under covers on the couch or in bed.

We have her on a 1/2 cup x 2 chicken based I and Love and You raw diet. She absolutely loves this food.

She’s taken very well to our 95 lb Golden/Shepard. They’re like two peas in a pod after two weeks of being together. She follows him everywhere!

We still haven’t had her play too closely with children, but as long as a parent was home all day, she should do well with kids 4+.

She loves to go everywhere with us and doesnt care for the cage much. However, we do put her in there when we leave the house for more than an hour.
Shes very good in a car and loves to go for rides! We have not taken her for any walks because it’s been too hot. However, she loves playing in the backyard and sleeping in the sun on the grass.

My recommendations for adoption is and older couple or single person that is retired or works from home. She seems to follow me over my wife, but I think it’s because I’m home all day. She also needs a nice yard with a fence that wont let her squeeze through any gaps. The person adopting her must be ok with her on the furniture and being on the bed. Again, shes ok with the crate, but she should be able to run around.

She has snuck out the garage door with me, but has never run off. She just wants to make sure shes part of the action.

I’d also say that she should be the only dog in the house and no young kids. She does have a tendency to nip at young kids or dogs if they approach her too fast. However, her hardest bite is barely felt (I tested her on my own hand).

All dogs are microchipped, neutered/spayed, current on all vaccines, heartworm tested and started on Tri Heart Plus & Vectra 3D.

All family members and any dogs from the household need to be present at the time of the adoption.

We do go in order of when you submitted your application with us. So it is always best that you get your general application for any animal in with us as soon as possible. Please fill out an online application and we will give you a call as soon as we receive it. Visit our ‘Adopt’ page to view adoption process steps, policies, requirements and FAQ. View our ‘Visit’ page for hours and directions to our shelter. We look forward to seeing you soon!

Our website is always kept 100% up to date with who is currently available. All new animals (40/week) are added to the site 2 weeks before their availability date to give you time to fill out your adoption application and get the family ready to come out to the shelter that day. As soon as animals are adopted, they are moved to the Adopted Pets page so if they are still listed on the Adoptable Dogs or Cats page, they are still available. So keep any eye on the site for any animals being added as available for adoption as new animals are added everyday! We would recommend if you haven’t done so already that you submit a general online adoption application with us so it is on file for when you are ready to come out and adopt. The adoption counselors will be able to show you many that would be a good fit for your family. We do go in order of when you submitted your application with us.
