A note from Pluto’s foster mom:
“He loves to be around people and seems very eager to be outdoors. He is extremely smart and observant. He gives the sweetest, most loving greetings in the morning and loyally sleeps by your side at night. When he wants to cuddle, no dog in our experience has ever given such wonderful hugs. And he has a permanent smile on his face. BUT he is a handful and will need lots of activity, attention, and patience! ”
I will be available for adoption on September 7th. I cannot have any visitors before September 7th. You will need to fill out an online application and receive a phone call back from a staff member that everything is ok with the application prior to September 7th. All family members and any dogs from the household need to be present at the time of the adoption.
We open at 9 am Saturday mornings and we will be helping adoptions in the order of when they submitted an approved application to us. There will be a sign in sheet on the front door at 8:30 am so that we can pull applications for the people that arrive between 8:30-9 am. Again, the order in which adoptions will come in to the shelter to see any adoptable dogs or cats first thing on Saturday mornings will be as to when the application was submitted to Animal House Shelter so there is no need to come to the shelter any earlier than 8:30 to sign in. This will be the procedure for people that arrive between 8:30-9 am.
After 9 am, on Saturday mornings it will be first come, first serve after we help all of the adoptions that signed in between 8:30-9 am. Most people submit general applications to us which do not specify a name or a particular litter they are interested in so there is no way for us to know until people arrive Saturday morning at 8:30 how many people are interested in a particular litter, puppy, kitten, cat or adult dog. We always have around 300 dogs & cats available for adoption and the adoption counselors will help you to find the right companion for your family!
We do go in order of when you submitted your application with us. So it is always best that you get your general application for any animal in with us as soon as possible. Please fill out an online application and we will give you a call as soon as we receive it. Visit our ‘Adopt’ page to view adoption process steps, policies, requirements and FAQ. View our ‘Visit’ page for hours and directions to our shelter. We look forward to seeing you soon!
Our website is always kept 100% up to date with who is currently available. All new animals (40/week) are added to the site 2 weeks before their availability date to give you time to fill out your adoption application and get the family ready to come out to the shelter that day. As soon as animals are adopted, they are moved to the Adopted Pets page so if they are still listed on the Adoptable Dogs or Cats page, they are still available. So keep any eye on the site for any animals being added as available for adoption as new animals are added everyday! We would recommend if you haven’t done so already that you submit a general online adoption application with us so it is on file for when you are ready to come out and adopt. The adoption counselors will be able to show you many that would be a good fit for your family.
